Homelessness – Case Studies
At Newdawn Foundation, changing lives is our number 1 priority. Here are some of our success stories.
Ms Y A
She was in a domestic violence situation and ultimately this led to other problematic issues for her. Ms Y A was no longer able to pay for her rent with a Housing Association. She was taken to court and was served an Eviction Notice. Ms Y A approached Newdawn Foundation on the day of the Eviction. One of our experienced adviser put Ms Y A through and we requested for a Stay of Execution based on her current situation. She was assisted in making a reasonable agreement with the Housing Association and the Eviction was Stopped.
Mr J M
He was a vulnerable client who was discharged from hospital and had nowhere to go. The hospital letter confirmed that he had been discharged. It was one of the distressing cases we have dealt with in recent years. Mr J M was wheel chair bound and it would be inhuman to leave him on the street. We contacted the hospital and spoke to the Duty Manager who stated that she was not aware of the situation. In collaboration with the Duty Manager we contacted the local housing area where Mr J M used to live and he was put in temporary accommodation.
Mr K D
He approached the Organisation stating that there was serious disrepair in his accommodation. Mr K D informed that he had parked his belongings and will go and handover the keys to the landlord and in turn approached his local housing authority for re-housing. One of our experienced Officers advised Mr K D that he would be making himself homeless intentionally. We contacted the local Environmental Office about the disrepair and Mr K D returned home. Mr K D would have made himself homeless intentionally and the local housing authority would not have a duty to re-house him.
Newdawn Foundation identifies that Single Homeless people need informed and planned decisions about their housing options and we are readily equipped to provide such advice.
